Inez and Herbert Bradman had a daughter born August 1, 1889 Mary Emerald Bradman who married Raymond G Mosman, Emery E Flanders, and Perley R Larrabee. Mary Emerald's children were: Albert E b. 1914, Belle F b. 1916, and Walter R b. 1919. In 1930 Herbert lived with Mary Emerald and her family. In 1940 Herbert was living with one of Mary Emerald's children, Walter in Belfast. -------------------- REUBEN NICKERSON (Joshua, Samuel, Samuel, William the immigrant), born at Harwich, Mass. 21 Jan 1748; son of Rev. Joshua and Thankful (Eldredge) Nickerson; died in Ohio about 1828. On Dec 31, 1767 at Harwich, he married Anna Eldredge of Harwich; dau of Reuben and Jerusha (Kelly) Eldredge; died at Swanville, Maine, nearly one huundred years of age. Reuben followed his father to New Hampshire but disliked the region where his father had settled. He moved to Prospect, Maine and was one of the earliest settlers of the part called Swanville. At age 80 in 1828 Reuben went, took his team of horses, to visit his brother Joshua in Ohio. He arrived safely, but was taken ill and died during his visit. Reuben's grandson, General Franklin Stillman Nickerson, recorded that "he moved to Swanville on thee ship "Polly" when his son, Seth, was 4 years old and carried his cattle with him." His farm was a large territory on both sides of Goose Pond and River. He was described as living "at Goose Pond Plantation, Hancock Do. Dist. of Mass." on a land deed dated 16 May 1793. His children were said to be remarkably tough and healthy, and the sons probably helped him erect the first sawmill and the first gristmill on the River. In the 1790 census he is shown having a family of 6 males and 4 females. -------------- SAMUEL NICKERSON b. 1638 was the 1st child of William and Anne (Busby) Nickerson to be born in America - place not known, d. bef. 17 Aug 1719, the date of his estate inventory taken. Samuel md. abt. 1660 to Mary BELL, dau of John BELL who moved from Sandwich, Ma. to West Harwich, Ma. She outlived Samuel and was appointed administrator of his estate 3 Sept 1719; her death date is not known. SAMUEL AND MARY HAD (3) CHILDREN:(prob. all b. at Chatham) "dau", mentioned in estate but name not given - prob. April 8, 1637 William of Norwich, Norfolk, weaver, and Anne his wife aged 34 and children Nicholas, Robert, Elizabeth and Ann, deserious to go to Boston to live. William Nickerson was among those who suffered persecution for conscience sake in Ipswich, England. He was born in Norwich, England, 1604-6. He sailed from Norwich, England, in April, 1637, either in the ship "John and Dorothy" of Ipswich, or the "Rose" of Yarmouth, in company with his wife, her parents, her brothers and sisters, and his four children. He landed at Boston, June 20, 1637, and lived in Boston, Watertown and Plymouth. He was next heard of at Yarmouth in 1641, and was selectman there in 1643. He was deputy to the general court in 1655. While at Yarmouth he was fined for "contempt for religion," probably meaning contempt for Father Mather, as there appears no reason to doubt that he was a man of rectitude, upright, and of good moral character. He was next heard of in Monoyick (now Chatham) where he purchased of John Quason, chief .of the Monoyicks, that territory comprising Chatham, Orleans, Harwich and Brewster, for the price of twelve hatchets, twelve hoes, twelve knives, twelve homespun suits, twelve shillings in English money, twelve shillings in wampum "and sundry other articles." This purchase was made by Nickerson without the consent of the government at Plymouth, which held grants from the Crown, and much legal strife was caused thereby. The matter was later amicably adjusted to the satisfaction of all concerned, Nickerson remaining in possession of the land purchased. He founded the town of Monomoy (now Chatham) where he exercised the office of religious teacher for many years prior to the coming of Rev. Mr. Vickery, he also figured largely in court proceedings, chiefly concerning titles to lands. He was selectman in Eastham in f670 and was there noted for being foremost in enterprise and public spirit. William Nickerson was born in Norwich, Norfolk county, England, in 1604, and died in Massachusetts between August 30, 1689, and September 8, 1790, at which latter date his daughter refers to him as being deceased. He married, in England, Anne (who was living as late as 1686), daughter of Nicholas and Bridget Busby. Children, of whom four were born in England: Nicholas, Robert, Anne, Elizabeth, Samuel, William, Joseph, John, Sarah. William is frequently mentioned in the old records of Plymouth Colony and became owner of all the land in and about Chatham.
