Fisher 49 of 315 Kenyon Ave. died suddenly Sunday afternoon at the close of a fishing trip on the Des Moines River below Eldon. Coroner Gordon Traul said death was due to a heart attack. Fisher had gone fishing with Frank Gee and Lawrence Albertson of Ottumwa Traul said. He complained to his companions of not feeling well. They stopped the car on their way back from Eldon and Fisher lay down on the grass. They called for help but the sick man had died when the doctor arrived. Fisher had lived in Ottumwa since the first World War. A veteran he was overseas 18 months. He was inducted into service June 27, 1918 at Pawhaske, Oklahoma and served in the 327th Supply Company of the Quarter Master Corps, in the Casulty Detachment and also in the Demolition group. He was discharged at Camp Pike, Arkansas November 6, 1919. Surviving are three daughers; Mrs. George Gee, Mary Ethel and Loretta Lucille; all of Ottumwa; 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers; John and Lamar, both of Oregon and three sisters; Mrs. Leone Marshall, Mrs. Theresa Jackson and Laura Fisher all of Oregon. His wife and three children preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2pm from the Pentecostal church with the Rev. A.D. McClure in charge. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. The Legion will hold services at the grave.
