Boyden, 56, Fireman, Kills Himself Leominster, May 4 - George W. Boyden, a member of the Leominster fire department for more than 30 years, died at the Leominster hospital last night a short time after he was admitted from the effects of drinking poison at his home, 39 Main street. Dr. Cornelius E. Geary, medical examiner, pronounced death due to suicide by poison. No motive was discovered. Mr. Boyden was born in Leominster and was 56 years old. In recent years he had been a contract electrician. Mr. Boyden has been connected to the fire department either as a permanent man or call fireman since 1900 except for a brief time when he lived in Worcester. He was a driver of the first motor-driven fire apparatus in the city was appointed a permanent man in 1917. He resigned as a regular in 1920 and has been a call man since that time. In the days of fireman musters he was one of the crack ladder runners in Massachusetts and won many prizes in his speciality. Mr. Boyden is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Boyden; three sons, Harold, Norman and Frederick Boyden; a daughter Miss Ruth Boyden, all of Leominster, and two sisters, Miss Frederica Boyden of Los Angeles and Mrs. Albert Leighton of this city. The funeral will be from the Thomas F. Wright funeral home at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. Roy M. Trafton will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.
