Description	:	Please Note: Bill's obituary, which I have transcribed below, stated that his parents were John and Nettie Minger Middleton. The obituary also stated that he was survived by his mother, Mrs. Eliza Davis. In the 1920 Census for Ottumwa, William and his brother Laurence [sic] Middleton were living with David J. and Frances Eliza Davis. Their relationship to David and Frances was shown as nephews. In the 1925 Census for Ottumwa, William and Lawrence were living with the David and Frances as adopted sons. Their parents were shown in that census as John... Their parents were shown in that census as John L. and Nellie (Luyer) Middleton. --------------- Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," Thursday, May 15, 1969, Page 9: Bill Middleton, motel, grocery owner, id dead G.W.(Bill) Middleton, 57, owner and operator of Ottumwa Motel on Highway 34 East, died at his home at the motel today at 6 a.m. He had suffered from a heart condition several years. He was also the owner of Middletown Grocery at 813 S. Milner Street. The son of John and Nettie Minger Middleton, he was born in Ottumwa, May 8, 1912. He had been a lifetime resident. He married Marcielle Simmons, Aug. 13, 1933, in Ottumwa. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Harold W. and Ronald W. Middleton, both of Ottumwa; one daughter, Mrs. Frances Paris of Ottumwa; several grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Eliza Davis of Ottumwa, and two brothers, James and John Johnson, both of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by three grandsons; two in infancy, and Alan in 1964; and by one brother. Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Leo Simmons, pastor of Calvary Open Bible Church. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
