Deiker was Laid to Rest Here on Saturday Funeral services for George Deiker, 68, Nevada man who died at the University hospital at Iowa City December 21, were held on Saturday afternoon at the Morfoot Funeral home, after which the body was laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery. The service was in charge of Rev. C. V. Pence of the Nevada Church of Christ assisted by Elder A. L. Miller of Nevada Seventh Day Adventist church of Nevada and Rev. Johnson, a friend from Boone. Deiker was Laid to Rest Here on Saturday Funeral services for George Deiker, 68, Nevada man who died at the University hospital at Iowa City December 21, were held on Saturday afternoon at the Morfoot Funeral home, after which the body was laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery. The service was in charge of Rev. C. V. Pence of the Nevada Church of Christ assisted by Elder A. L. Miller of Nevada Seventh Day Adventist church of Nevada and Rev. Johnson, a friend from Boone. Three hymns "In the Garden," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Face to Face" were sang by Mrs. Pence and Mrs. Lee Cook, with Mrs. Robert Ogden at the piano. The floral offerings were very beautiful attesting in a fitting manner the great love of the deceased for flowers. The rooms were well filled with old neighbors and friends and the few living relatives of Mr. Deiker. The following obituary of the deceased was read during the service. "George William Deiker, son of John and Barbara Deiker, was born in Eureka, Ill., September 25, 1870 and died December 21, 1938 at the University hospital in Iowa City. "He was united in marriage with Donna Howell at Peoria, Ill. Feb. 10, 1910. They came to Nevada, Iowa, in March of that year and have lived in Story county most of the time. "He united with the Christian church of Eureka, Ill., when about 18 years of age. A member of Nevada Camp 296 Modern Woodmen of America. He is survived by the wife and one sister Mrs. Wm. Rudloff of Cambridge, Ia., and one brother Henry W. of Peoria, Ill. Four brothers and one sister having preceded him in death." Mr. Deiker ws a man admired and respected by all who knew him. Honest and industrious, he was ever about his tasks of live, as long as the state of his health would permit. One of the outstanding characteristics was his great love for flowers and his pleasure in sharing the blooms from his garden with others.
