Bohlken, 82, were held Saturday, Aug. 6, 1994 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Monticello, with burial in St. John's Cemetery. The Rev. Dale Glawatz officiated at the services. George W. Bohlken of Scotch Grove, died Tuesday, Aug. 2,1994, at his home following an extended illness. George Gerke William Bohlken was born Aug. 28, 1911 in Wayne Township, Jones County, Iowa, the son of Adolph and Emma Katherine (Bohlken) Bohlken. He received his education in the rural schools of Wayne Township. The family moved to Richland Township where George started farming with his parents. George W. Bohlken and Dorothy Sawyer were married March 12, 1937 at St John's Lutheran Church. The couple fanned in Richland Township until 1965 when they moved to their farm in Scotch Grove Township. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Church. He was also a member of the Scotch Grove Coonhunters. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; four children, John of Sonoma, Calif., William G.of Monticello, Nancy Flynn and Tom Bohlken, both of Scotch Grove; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Bohlken and Ellen Hanken, both of Monticello, Agnes (Toots) Collman of Stone City; two brothers, Henry of Iowa City and A. O. (Boots) Bohlken of Scotch Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael; a grandson; a brother, Chuck, and a sister, Laura. Casket bearers were: Chad Bohlken, Tim Flynn, Brian Flynn, Kurt Bohlken, Kevin Bohlken, Keith Bohlken, Kent Bohlken, Steve McCormick, Steve Monk, Ron Stutt, Nathan Bartsch and Danny McGettigan.
