Description	:	As noted in our issue of last week, George William Taylor passed to his reward on the 13th. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the M.E. church, conducted by Rev Douglass, and interment was in Memory cemetery. Mr Taylor was one of the old citizens of this community and was a model citizen and his demise is mourned by a wide circle of friends and especially by those who knew him best. Mr Taylor was one of the old citizens of this community and was a model citizen and his demise is mourned by a wide circle of friends and especially by those who knew him best. He suffered long from that insidious disease, cancer, and death was a welcome relief to him. The community is better for his having lived in it and the good influence he had upon its affairs will be apparent long after his mortal body has returned to dust. George William Taylor ws born in Tuscaros Co., Ohio, Dec 7, 1847. Died at his home in New Market, Iowa, March 13, 1918. When but a boy he moved with his parents to Indiana and from Indiana to Iowa, locating in Taylor county, five miles north east of New Market, where the homestead was laid out and improved. On June 29, 1873, he was married to Effie McAlpin, and in 1877 they went to housekeeping on the farm two miles east of New Market. Upon this farm he resided for twenty-seven years, when he moved to New Market where he has since resided, except two years spent in Indianola, Iowa, until the time of his death. Mr Taylor was the father of two children, Bert who died on the 2nd of December, 1915, and Mrs Essie Lake who is a resident of New Market. Mr Taylor is the last of his father's family to step off the shores of time. He leaves as near relatives and descendants, his companion, one daughter, and five grandchildren waiting the Master's call. In young manhood Mr Taylor was converted and joined the Presbyterian church and when he moved on the farm near where New Market now is and the Methodist church was organized he became a member of the Methodist church. For more than forty years he has been following the Master's leading, until he heard Him say come up higher. By his going the community has lost one of its best citizens and the church one of its most generous and faithful supporters.
