Description	:	George William Young, 83, of Athens, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains. He was born Feb. 17, 1923, in Athens, son of the late George Grover and Edith Dowler Young. George was married for 56 years to Dorothy Sullivan Young, who survives. He was an Army WWII Veteran with the Fourth Armored Division, a member of the Church of Christ in New Marshfield, and he worked for Karr Construction for many years. In addition to his wife, George is survived by a son, George Larry Young of Athens; four daughters, Sheila (James) Kline of Nelsonville, Mary Kay (Randy) Rose of Columbus, Jane (Dennis) Cuckler of Rockport, Ind., and Cathy (Charlie Paugh) Linscott of Marietta; a brother, Paul Young of Athens; a sister, Garnett Smith of Nelsonville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. George was preceded in death by his parents, as well as a broth- er, Francis Young; and two sisters, Isabelle and Alice Young. Funeral services will be held Monday, 1 p.m., at Souers- Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Buford Brown and Pastor Dave Cogar officiating. Interment will be in New Marshfield Cemetery. Military graveside ser- vices will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Monday one hour prior to the services.
