Read More	Bellevue Leader, IA, Thursday, June 26, 1947 DEATH SUMMONS GEORGE ZENTNER Stricken with Heart Attack Early Tuesday Morning at Home - Services Friday The populace of our fair city was stunned when word was spread Tuesday morning that death had taken our esteemed citizen, George Zentner, suddenly during the night. Mr. Zentner was in his usual good health the day before, but became ill about one o'clock in the morning. Dr. Tilton was called and administered medical aid and it was thought Mr. Zentner would respond, when a heart attack snuffed out his life at 3:00 a.m. It was indeed a shock, not only to his family but to the whole community in which he was so well-known and where he had spent his entire life. Only two years ago he retired from the business life of the city having been a grocer here for many years. However he continued active in civic affairs by retaining his place on the Town Council and as president of the First National Bank of which he was a long time director. Mr. Zentner was a quiet, unassuming man whose word was as good as its weight in gold. He took an active part in all causes which were for the betterment of the community. Mr. Zentner, as stated above, was a native of Bellevue, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Zentner, and was born January 28, 1874. He attended local schools and graduated with the class of 1891 and also from the Cedar Rapids Business college. He entered business here and was very successful in whatever he undertook. On January 9, 1902, he choose for his helpmate, Ella Bittner, who with one daughter, Mrs. Perry J. Walsh of Hyde Park, N. Y., survive. Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. Emma Pier of Maquoketa and a brother, Will Zentner of Milwaukee and two grandchildren, John Perry and Elizabeth Walsh of Hyde Park, N. Y. Mr. Zentner's keen interest in education is evidenced by his membership in the Jackson County Board of Education, where he served faithfully for fifteen years. Fraternally he was affiliated with Bellevue Lodge, No. 51, A. F. & A. M. and the DeMolay Consistory of Clinton. He served on the local school board for several years and held membership in the Chamber of Commerce and the Bellevue Golf club. The funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late home on Second street with the Rev. J. L. Linkenmeyer officiating. Interment will take place in the Presbyterian cemetery where the DeMolay consistory of Clinton will have charge of the committal service. As a mark of respect to the departed the business houses of Bellevue will be closed from 1:45 to 3:00 p.m.
