Read More	Published in the Peoples Defender on 9/5/2007 "Georgetta B. Mason Roush Georgetta B. Mason Roush, 91, of Manchester passed away Tuesday, August 28 at the Ohio Valley Manor in Ripley. She was born September 20, 1915 the daughter of George Mason and Clara Hilderbrand of Lewis County, Kentucky. Mrs. Roush was the designated owner of NASCAR Nextel Cup Car # 97 from 1998-2005, the #26 Cup entry in 2006 and the #99 Cup entry in 2007. Carl Edwards drove her car to victory lane at Bristol Speedway last Saturday, August 25. She was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons: Jack Roush of Northville, Michigan and Frank (Sheila) Roush of Manchester; brother, Ivan (Sharon) Mason of Baltimore; two sisters: Eileen Curtis of Manchester and Willie Jeanette Applegate of Tollesboro, Kentucky; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 1 at the Manchester United Methodist Church under the direction of Wilson Home for Funerals in Manchester. Rev. Georgetta Roush, a name famous in Manchester, Adams County and the NASCAR circuit passed away quietly on Tuesday at the Ohio Valley Manor in Ripley. Georgetta, 92, was the mother of two sons, Frank Roush of West Union and Jack Roush of Michigan. At the time of her passing, Georgetta was the designated owner of the #99 Nextel Cup entry driven by Carl Edwards. Edwards was able to drive the Office Depot Ford Fusion car to victory lane just one week ago under the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway. As little as five years ago, Georgetta was very active in the Roush business and at that time was listed as the designated owner of the #97 Rubbermaid Ford Taurus, driven by Kurt Busch. As commented by some of the drivers, she was always around and took a great interest in business. Georgetta was always present for the annual Jack Roush Days held each year in October in Manchester. She proudly would sit beside Jack as he signed autographs and would often pose for pictures with both of her sons, of whom she was very proud. The Roush boys attributed their work ethic to their parents who started them very early making money mowing yards in the small community of Manchester. Jack has often told the story of how mowing yards steered him in the direction of being a businessman. The former Georgetta B. Mason was born September 20, 1915 in Lewis County, Kentucky to the late George and Clara (Hilderbrand) Mason. She married Frank "Charles" Roush, who passed away in March, 2004, at the age of 85. The passing of Georgetta has left a hole in the hearts of many, not only as a relative or friend but as a hometown girl who instilled pride and hard work in the upbringing of her sons. Just because you are from small town, USA, through hard work and dedication to seek your dream, you too can succeed.
