Description	:	Georgia Ann Medley, age 90, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2020 due to complications from her on-going battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born September 19, 1929 in Durham Kansas to George and Ruth Peters. Growing up in a small farming community, Georgia was the middle child of two sisters, Jean and Judy. Read More	Georgia Ann Medley, age 90, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2020 due to complications from her on-going battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born September 19, 1929 in Durham Kansas to George and Ruth Peters. Growing up in a small farming community, Georgia was the middle child of two sisters, Jean and Judy. Being a cheerleader in high school, she dated and later married the star basketball player, William (Bill) Medley. After he had served several years in the military, they were happily married on April 15, 1950. Later he would be shipped of to serve in the Korean War, leaving Georgia with other wives at the military base in Colorado Springs. With her husband overseas, Georgia suffered the painstaking loss of a still born child, Kristi Jo. And in 1952 Bill returned home from the war as they made a life for themselves on the farm. Then in 1953, they welcomed into their lives their newborn son, Murray and then in 1959, their second son, Mitchell. Her husband then became the manager with the Farmer’s Cooperative organization which lead them in a series of moves from Chanute, Kansas to Great Bend, Kansas, to Rockport Missouri and then finally to Liberty, Missouri. One of the fondest memories she had was their time in Great Bend where she ran a children’s clothing stores while raising their two sons and attending the local Methodist church. In 1982 they moved to Liberty, where eventually Bill would work as an insurance agent for Farm Bureau. Georgia started to volunteer her services in the gift shop at Liberty Hospital which she enjoyed very much. Until just last year she faithfully served the hospital for a time that spanned over 38 years. In 2000, she and Bill celebrated their 50 year anniversary with many family and friends. The great tragedy of her life was the loss of her dear husband as he went home to be with his Lord in 2001 after a long battle with a debilitating illness. After his passing, she later moved into The Residence at Liberty Place where she made many friends and enjoyed their companionship despite adjusting to the loss of her beloved Bill. In January of this year, after suffering a fall at home, Georgia moved in with her granddaughter Michelle and was lovingly cared for as she approached her final days. She is survived by her two sisters, Jean Oblander of Hillsboro, Kansas and Judy Dunn of Salina, Kansas. Her first child, daughter Kristi Jo was still born. Her two surviving sons, Murray Medley (wife Sherry) of Independence, Missouri and Mitch Medley (wife Tessy) of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Her four grandchildren are Michelle Medley Simmons (husband Travis) of Excelsior Springs, Matt Medley (wife Nicole) of Independence, Aston Medley and Ryan Magill of Pleasant Hill. Her six great grandchildren are Savanah, Sebastion, Seth, William, Molly and Miles. Her life was a living example of a favorite Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Please join us for a celebration of Georgia’s at a visitation from 2-3 pm with services following at 3:00 pm, on Saturday, May 23, at park Lawn Northland Chapel, Liberty.
