Description	:	Georgia Farmer McConnell, 80, of Franklin, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 at a local hospital. She was a lifelong native of Macon County, the daughter of the late James and Zoa DeHart Farmer. She was married to Thurman "Bud" McConnell, who passed away Oct. 1, 1999. She was a homemaker and a member of Black Mountain Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with Benjamin and liked talking to her friends on the phone. She was a lifelong native of Macon County, the daughter of the late James and Zoa DeHart Farmer. She was married to Thurman "Bud" McConnell, who passed away Oct. 1, 1999. She is survived by one daughter, Linda Higdon and husband Bill of Franklin; one son, Bennie McConnell of Franklin; one granddaughter, Megan; one great-grandson, Benjamin; one sister, Louise Robinson of Morganton, N.C.; and one brother, J.L. Farmer and wife Frances of Brevard, N.C. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home, with Rev. John Raby officiating. Burial will be at Prentiss Baptist Church Cemetery. Freddie McConnell, Wade McConnell Jr., Elbert McConnell, Buster Tallent, Roger Hall, and Scott Mason will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, prior to service at Bryant-Grant Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hands of Hope, c/o Rick and Jenny Campbell, P.O. Box 789, Iaeger, WV 24844. Bryant-Grant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
