Georgiaetta Eveline Ehrp was born November 27, 1913 to George and Myrtle (Bogardus) Ehrp in Pocahontas County, Iowa. At the age of 6 she moved to Bruce, South Dakota where she attended Brookings County schools until 8th grade. She completed her 8th grade year through high school graduation in White, South Dakota. Her mother fell ill and Georgiaetta took care of her for several years. On July 21, 1934 she united in marriage to Glen Bernard Derdall in Elk Point, South Dakota. They farmed together near Brookings, South Dakota until 1961 when they relocated to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They lived there for 13 years and moved to Kimball in 1974. After Glen’s passing in 1976, Georgiaetta remained in Kimball. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church; the Senior Citizens, serving as President for 7 ½ years and Site Manager in charge of nutritious meals; a member of the Brookings Riding Club and various extension clubs. Those left to honor the memory of Georgiaetta include: her 2 sons: Gerald Derdall of Garden Grove, California and Gene Derdall and wife, Carol of Kimball, South Dakota; 3 grandsons: Grant Derdall and wife, Vernette, Geoff Derdall and wife, Tonya and Steven Derdall; 4 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Myrtle Sterud of Volga, South Dakota, Mabel Yurgaitis of San Diego, California and Marie Mannisto and husband, Elmer of Mesa, Arizona, along with several nieces and nephews. Georgiaetta was preceded in death by: her husband Glen (1976); her parents, George and Myrtle Ehrp; a grandson, Danny and 2 sisters: Agnes Holley and Florence Malone.
