Gig was born April 19, 1927, in Worcester, MA to Dominic and Zalmira (Miocco) DeLollis, of Fallo, Abruzzi, Italy and Worcester, MA. Gig was married to Ray Laferriere on May 30, 1955, in, Worcester, MA. She was a resident of Attleboro for 47 years. She is survived by 5 daughters, Diane Laferriere-Murphy, Michelle LaPlante, Janice Laferriere, Paula Cassidy, and Monique Laferriere. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Carol Olsen (2000) and an infant son, Mark (1957). Gig is also survived by her sons-in-law Kevin Murphy, Mark LaPlante, James Olsen (Ruth) and Michael Cassidy, as well as 16 grandchildren, Craig, Miles (Amanda) and Nicholas LaPlante; Chloe, Amy and Phillip LaPlante; Lorin, Noah and Daniel Olsen; Megan, Hayley and Graycen Cassidy; and Jessica Houck, Shelli, Julian and Aidan Murphy; and 4 great-grand children, Magnus LaPlante (Craig), Ellie, Isaac and Nathan Laplante (Miles and Amanda). Gig is also survived by her sister, Frances Curtis and many nieces and nephews. Gig graduated from Clark University in Worcester in 1948 with a double major in Geology and French. After working at New England Telephone in Worcester, she took a leave of absence to study in the summer of 1950 at the Sorbonne in Paris. Upon completion of her studies there, she and her friend traveled from Paris to Fallo in Italy, where her parents had immigrated from. Thereafter, she moved to Washington, DC to work at the CIA for several years. It was there that she met a young Air Force Staff Sergeant, Ray Laferriere, from Attleboro, MA, who would give her rides home to Worcester for holidays. In addition to her great enjoyment of family, Gig loved to travel. She and Ray traveled extensively throughout Europe and in the US, including many trips to Colorado to ski. She was an avid correspondent, keeping contact with lifelong friends far and near. Gig was an early advocate in the state of Massachusetts for integrated education for special needs children, and served as treasurer for the Attleboro Association for Retarded Children (AARC). She was an active member of St. Joseph’s church in Attleboro and an active communicant of St. Vincent de Paul’s after the merger of those congregations. In later years, she found daily delight in her crossword puzzles and comics, always sharing her humor with family and friends. Gig was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
