Brown, whose death at the family home at Dana was mentioned last week, were held from the First M.E. church there at 2:00 o’clock Friday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Hohanshelt, and Rev. Ilgenfritz. A number of other ministers were present and assisted in the services and James Davison of College Springs an evangelistic singer, sang a solo. The remains were laid to rest in East Linwood cemetery. Georgiana Blackburn was born in Union county, Ohio, October 4, 1861. At the age of eight years she was left an orphan and made her home with an uncle, William Blackburn, until her marriage with Mr. L.F. Brown, which occurred January 14, 1880. In 1885 they removed to Washington county, Kansas, and in 1889 came to Iowa and her husband began his work as a Methodist minister and has since served the Boone circuit, Jefferson circuit, Cooper, Stanton, Hebron, Shambaugh, Ellston and Dana. While at Ellston she was stricken with paralysis which left her speechless, but her mind remained clear and active till the end and she continued to serve her Savior in a faithful and efficient manner. May 7th she received a second stroke and passed away May 9th. She was the mother of two sons, Emmet E., and Guy L. Brown of Boone, who were at her bedside during her last hours. One sister, Mrs. M.L. Connett of Des Moines, and one brother, Frank Blackburn of Kansas City, were present at the funeral. Two sisters have preceded her in death.
