Georgie attended Ripley Township #5. On November 5, 1954, Georgie was united in marriage with Lois Marilyn Jungling at the Bethel Reformed Church in rural Aplington. After their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm north of Aplington. Georgie farmed and raised livestock. He also helped at the Aplington Sale Barn and did custom corn shelling and combining. Georgie was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church. He served at the church as Sunday School treasurer, deacon, usher and also sang in the choir. Georgie was the snow removal chief at the church. Georgie enjoyed fishing, especially on their vacations to Sunset Point in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He liked teasing, visiting and golfing in leagues and family golf outings. Georgie loved going for rides with Lois and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s events. Georgie always had a lifesaver in his pocket to share. Georgie passed away Friday, February 28, 2020, at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook, Iowa. Georgie is preceded in death by a daughter, Sheri Franken; a grandson, Travis Franken; his parents, Conrad and Reka Schipper; six brothers, Joe, Alvin, Fred, Larry, Roger and Ronnie Schipper; and two infant sisters. Georgie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois of Gladbrook; two daughters, Jolyn (Gaylen) Timmer of Parkersburg and Ranae (Bob) Diekman of Bird Island, Minnesota; one son, Chad (Nichole) Schipper of Aplington; 10 grandchildren, Christopher (Cristina) Siems, Ryan Siems, Matt (Amber) Timmer, Nicole (Dave) Wasierski, Samantha Loebs, Drew Diekman, Bailie & Jacob Schipper, Jason (Julie) Franken and Amy (Steve) Simon; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Eunice) Schipper of Kesley, Vern (Mattie) Schipper of Mansfield, Texas; one sister, Sharon (Doyle) Schneiderman of Parkersburg; three sisters-in-law, Esther Schipper of Parkersburg, Marcia Schipper and Frances Schipper, both of Kesley. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, at the Bethel Reformed Church, with burial in the Bethel Reformed Cemetery, both in rural Aplington. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, at the Bethel Reformed Church in rural Aplington, and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to family
