Read More	The Daily Press (Newport News, Va.), Wed, 20 Aug 1997, pC4, c6 Georgie H. Skyles Grimstead - Georgie Hudgins Skyles, 87, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 1997, in Tampa, Fla. Born at New Point in Mathews County, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Skyles Jr. Mrs. Skyles was a retired public school teacher, having taught in the Gloucester and Mathews Counties for over 30 years. She also taught in England while her husband was stationed there in the U.S. Air Force. Her love of drama helped many of her students prepare for their lives ahead by strengthening their skills for learning as well as bringing out each student's special potential. Mrs. Skyles started the Chartered No. 3099 Thespian Club and sponsored the first newspaper at Mathews High School. She always took the time to listen to her students even though she was the teacher, and that gained the respect she would carry with her for the next 40 years. Many of her former students from all over the country kept in touch with her and remained her friends. Mrs. Skyles is survived by one daughter, Georgie Ellen Skyles Insley of Tampa, Fla.; two grandchildren, William Joseph Martin, and his wife, Margaret, of Raleigh, N.C., and Richard Daniel Martin, and his wife, Kim, of Nags Head, N.C.; and one great-grandchild, Amanda Nicole Martin. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Ward officiating. Interment will follow in the Gwynn's Island Cemetery in Gwynn's Island. The family will receive friend Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home in Mathews is in charge of the arrangements.
