Nicholson died at her home Tuesday, February 20, 1945. She was born in Liverpool, England, July 7, 1857. Accompanied by her parents, Capt. And Mrs. George Laing, she came to LeMars at the beginning of the early English settlement. Her father built the farm formerly known as the Shearon farm, south of LeMars, where they lived until the death of Capt. Laing. In May, 1883, she was married to James B. Nicholson. The young couple began their married life on a farm 3 ½ miles south of LeMars, where they lived until they moved to LeMars in 1911. Mr. Nicholson died in December 1934. To this union seven children were born: Ben Nicholson, Elsie Koenig, Jean Dula, James B. Nicholson Jr., Georgina Shuenk, Madge Berner and Ruth Burg. She also leaves eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mrs. Nicholson was the last survivor of a family of seven brothers and sisters. Funeral services which were held at the residence, 109 Seventh street SE, this afternoon at two o'clock were conducted by the Rev. Golden Thompson.
