Description	:	Gerald D. Potts was born Dec. 6, 1930, in O'Neill to C. Dale and Gladys (Bellinger) Potts. His early life was spent on a farm in rural northern Holt County where he received his early education at rural schools. He graduated from O'Neill High School in 1948. Dale and Gladys (Bellinger) Potts. His early life was spent on a farm in rural northern Holt County where he received his early education at rural schools. He graduated from O'Neill High School in 1948. Jerry entered the U.S. Army on Jan. 11, 1951, and served in the Korean War until 1954. Jerry reenlisted on July 19, 1954, and served in Germany until he was honorably discharged on June 27, 1957. After his discharge, Jerry enrolled at Wayne State Teachers College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1961. In 1961, Jerry married Esther Decker. Jerry enrolled in the University of Missouri and received a Master of Arts Degree in English. He taught four years at Fort Dodge Iowa Community College, followed by two years at Dickinson State University in North Dakota. He later returned to Nebraska and taught several years in various high schools. Jerry worked for some time with the Community Action Program at Loup City and later worked for the City of Grand Island and was a real estate agent. He was an agent for Bankers Life & Casualty Insurance Company from which he retired. On Nov. 23, 1985, Jerry married Marlene Boesiger. Jerry was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher for over 20 years. He was a member of the Eagles, the Soroptimist, the American Legion, a lifetime member of the VFW, and was an avid bowler. Jerry is survived by his wife, Marlene Potts of Columbus; sisters, Darlene Keller of La Plata, Md., Wilma (Frank) Baldwin of Ord, and Sharon Kay (Gilford) Buskirk of Lincoln; brothers, Fred R. (Carolyn) Potts of Lincoln and Lester D. (Linda) Potts of Lincoln; brother-in-law, Robert (Mildred) Gay of Aurora, Colo.; and many loving nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, C. Dale and Gladys Potts; first wife, Esther Potts; and two infant sisters, Ramona and Pollyann. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, the Care Ministry (2200 25th St., Columbus, NE 68601), or to the donor's choice.
