Description	:	Gerald Bessman April 4, 1938 - March 5, 2003 HAMPTON - Gerald D. Bessman, 64, of Hampton died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Services will be held Saturday, March 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hampton United Methodist Church with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Miller will officiate. Gerald was born April 4, 1938, at Osage to Otis and Clara Nicholson Bessman. He attended Owasa High School and on Aug. 14, 1992, he married Barb Woltjer in Hampton. Bessman, 64, of Hampton died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Services will be held Saturday, March 8, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hampton United Methodist Church with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Miller will officiate. Gerald was born April 4, 1938, at Osage to Otis and Clara Nicholson Bessman. He attended Owasa High School and on Aug. 14, 1992, he married Barb Woltjer in Hampton. He was a police officer for the Hampton Police Department and retired in February 2000. Gerald enjoyed working on small engines, traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Barb, of Hampton; his father, Otis Bessman, of Iowa Falls; a son, Byron Bessman, and wife Teresa of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Lorraine LeDoux and husband Bob of Mason City, and Margaret Bessman-Quintero of Sioux City; three stepsons, Troy Patterson of Hampton, Darrin Patterson and wife Kathy and Kevin Patterson and wife Carol, all of Waterloo; a brother, George Bessman, of Belle Plaine; a sister, Marjorie Hunt, and husband Lee of Albert Lea, Minn.; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother. Published March 10, 2003
