Description	:	Jerry Hindman, age 92, of Hubbard, IA passed away today at the Hubbard Care Center. Gerald Dean Hindman was born in Brush, Colorado on April 1, 1922 in the family home to Nelson Delno and Esther Veronica (Hannah) Hindman. The family moved to Iowa in 1933. Read More	Jerry Hindman, age 92, of Hubbard, IA passed away today at the Hubbard Care Center. Gerald Dean Hindman was born in Brush, Colorado on April 1, 1922 in the family home to Nelson Delno and Esther Veronica (Hannah) Hindman. The family moved to Iowa in 1933. They settled in Colfax where he attended school and completed only one year of high school. At the age of 12, he was baptized into the Christian faith. At 15 years of age, he moved in with his uncle and aunt, Ivan and Lee DeWitt, near New Providence. He worked for several farmers in the area. In 1945, he was drafted in to the U.S. Army and served as 2nd Air Rep and Supply Detail in the Pacific. In 1946, he was discharged with an Honorable Discharge with a Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. On Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1948, he was united in marriage to Arleen Elsie Blome at the Zion Church in Hubbard. They were blessed with four children: Jean, Larry, Kathy and Janet. They farmed for 60 years in the Hubbard area until retiring to town in 1984. Jerry was a life long active member of the United Church of Christ and served on multiple community boards. He was a member of the American Legion Post #4 for 69 years serving in the Color Guard. Jerry passed away on February 5, 2015 at the Hubbard Care Center. Those remaining to cherish his memory are his wife Arleen of Hubbard; four children Jean (David) Winter of Hubbard, Larry (Deb) of Radcliffe, Kathy (Dave) Tisdale of Zearing and Janet (Mick) Coellner of Hubbard; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; sister Peggy Gardner of Newton; along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, 1 sister-in-law and two brothers-in-law.
