He was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Wisner to Daniel and Julia (McGuire) Kane. He attended Wisner Public Schools, graduating from Wisner High School in 1936. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-45. He was born Jan. 8, 1920, in Wisner to Daniel and Julia (McGuire) Kane. He attended Wisner Public Schools, graduating from Wisner High School in 1936. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-45. He piloted a B-17 bomber on 35 missions over Germany. Upon returning he was the managing partner in the Albers Dehy in Wisner from 1947-86. He married Marcella McCauley on April 7, 1951, in Fremont. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, charter member of Knights of Columbus Fr. Joseph Rose Council 7779, Monarch (charter member) of the Wisner Lions Club, member of Wisner American Legion Post 85 and member of Wisner Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6767. He had served on the boards of the Wisner Manor, National Alfalfa Dehy Association and was a director of the 100th Bomber Group. He also was active in Golden Gloves Boxing for 60 years. Survivors include: his wife; three sons, Terry (and wife, Antoinette) Kane of Columbus, Dan Kane of Wisner and Gerald Kane Jr. of Salt Lake City; three daughters, Mary Lou (Mrs. Greg) Nissen of Gretna, Kathleen (Mrs. Kevan) Young of Auburn and Colleen (Mrs. Gary) McCollum of Omaha; a brother, Richard Kane of Wisner; three sisters, Ursula Liesche and Joan Anderson, both of Omaha, and Mercedes Dea of Vista, Calif.; and 18 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters. The Rev. Tim Podraza will officiate Friday's service. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today and will continue from 9 a.m. to service time Friday, all at the church. A Christian wake service will be 7:30 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery with military rites by Wisner American Legion Post 85 and Wisner Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5767.
