Description	:	Gerald H. "Jerry" Ramaker, 76, of Ephrata, passed away Monday morning, Jan. 8, 2001 at Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata. He was born on May 4, 1924 in Wenatchee to Gerald and Bertha (Hamilton) Ramaker. He was raised and schooled in East Wenatchee and worked at various jobs in the Wenatchee area before entering the U.S. Army-Air Force. He served in the European Theatre in W.W. He worked... Read More	Gerald H. "Jerry" Ramaker, 76, of Ephrata, passed away Monday morning, Jan. 8, 2001 at Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata. He was born on May 4, 1924 in Wenatchee to Gerald and Bertha (Hamilton) Ramaker. He was raised and schooled in East Wenatchee and worked at various jobs in the Wenatchee area before entering the U.S. Army-Air Force. He served in the European Theatre in W.W. II as a B-17 Ball Turret Gunner, (Belly Gunner). He was married to OvaLee Keith in Wenatchee in 1944. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to East Wenatchee where they made their home. He worked a variety of jobs until moving to Ephrata and going to work at Larson Air Force Base where he became a fireman for the Base Fire Department. He later became Fire Chief and remained in that capacity until moving to Nenana, AK in 1960 where he was Fire Chief. While in Alaska, he homesteaded 40 acres between Nenana and Clear, AK. He moved to Kona, HI in 1974 where he became Fire Chief at Kona Village. In 1990, he retired and moved to Carson City, NV. He remained in Carson City until November of 1999 when he returned to Ephrata. On May 4, 2000 he married Phyllis A. Hosford in Las Vegas, NV. They have since continued to make their home in Ephrata. Jerry was a longtime member of the William H. Jett Lodge F. & A.M. #285 of Wenatchee and a member of the Ephrata B.P.O.E. He enjoyed big game hunting and fishing in Alaska, deep sea fishing in Hawaii and family genealogy. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis A. Ramaker, Ephrata; two daughters and one son-in-law, Saundra Lynn and Frank Comte, Nampa, ID and Susan Rene Ramaker, Ephrata; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Keith Gerald and SueAnn Ramaker, Ephrata, Douglas Perry and Sandra Ramaker, Portland, OR and Brent Stephen Ramaker, Wenatchee; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Elizabeth Worthey and his second wife, Laura Jane Ramaker. Commemoration services will be held at the graveside in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in East Wenatchee on Friday morning, Jan. 12, 2001 at 11 a.m. The services will conclude at the cemetery. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.
