Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Beulah Congregational Church, Beulah with Pastor Elden Zuern officiating. Jerry was born on February 10, 1932 in Hazen, ND to Albert and Evelyn (Boehler) Beck. He grew up and attended school in Zap and graduated from Zap High School. Read More	Gerald “Jerry” Beck, 82, of Zap, ND passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at his home. Services will be held at 10:00 AM CST on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Beulah Congregational Church, Beulah with Pastor Elden Zuern officiating. Jerry was born on February 10, 1932 in Hazen, ND to Albert and Evelyn (Boehler) Beck. He grew up and attended school in Zap and graduated from Zap High School. Following graduation, Jerry enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from October 20, 1950 to October 13, 1954. When he returned home from the service, he attended Wahpeton State School of Science and earned his degree in auto body. Following school, he worked for the railroad for some time before being accepted to the North Dakota Highway Patrol where he was employed from 1956 to 1966. Jerry also worked as a safety director for a trucking company for four years and was later elected Sheriff of McKenzie County for two years. He returned to the safety field for a few years, following his time as sheriff, working in the oil field. Jerry later became the Veteran Service Officer for McKenzie and Mercer counties, serving for 20 years before retiring in 2010. Jerry enjoyed working on clocks and spending time in his yard. He also took care of the Congregational Cemetery north of Zap. He was very proud of his grandchildren and greatly enjoyed his time with them. Jerry is survived by two children, Valerie Crump of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and Craig (Atiana) Beck of Fargo; four grandchildren, Natalie and Megan Crump, and Kyle and Christopher Beck; one sister, Sharon (Donald) Bauer of Omaha, NE; two brothers, Larry (Nancy) Beck of Beulah and Clayton (Mary) Beck of Aurora, CO; and three nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Evelyn and one brother, Delmar.
