Read More	Veteran - Served in Royal Canadian Navy Gerald "Jerry" Boycey was born March 30, 1936 in Edmonton, AB. He lived in Yellowknife, NWT until he was age eight, when the family moved to Sundre, AB where he received his school education. He joined the Navy while in Churchill, MB. After that he moved to Lynn Lake where he was employed with the Bull gang, then worked as a mechanic's helper. He served on the Mine Fire Department, worked in the Safety and Health Department and as Security for the mine. After his retirement he was a security guard for RCMP and Burntwood Regional Health Authority. (He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and also a member of the notorious NMAAA. Gerald had superior oration skills and took great interest in young people in the community. He coached minor hockey for 22.5 years in Lynn Lake and in Leaf Rapids, receiving the M.A.H.A. Coaches Award. He was an avid sports fan and thoroughly enjoyed fishing, camping, berry picking and long walks in the forest. Gerald Boycey of Leaf Rapids, MB passed away Sept. 21, 2008 at the Assiniboine Health Centre in Brandon, MB. He was survived by his daughter and son-in-law, his son and daughter-in-law, a grandson, and one sister. He also left a common-law wife and her children. "Jerry" was predeceased by his wife Edna, his mother, Blanche, (his father ?) and two brothers Darcy and Ron. A Celebration of Life was held in Brandon and a Memorial Service in Leaf Rapids, MB and Gerald was laid to rest in the Leaf Rapids Cemetery
