Born on February, 9, 1934 in Coon Rapids, IA, he was the son of Albert and Leta (Squibb) Augustus. Jerry grew up in Coon Rapids where he attended school. Read More	Gerald “Jerry” Augustus, age 80, of Bagley, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Born on February, 9, 1934 in Coon Rapids, IA, he was the son of Albert and Leta (Squibb) Augustus. Jerry grew up in Coon Rapids where he attended school. He served in the United States Army from 1957 – 1959. Jerry was married to Patricia Wernick on March 23, 1960 after a three month courtship that lasted 54 years. To this marriage came three daughters: Tamera, Rebecca, and Geraldine. After years of construction work, Jerry began a farming and farm management career until retirement. Through the years Jerry’s favorite pastime was fishing. Trips to Lost Island Lake and Minnesota were enjoyed with the girls, grandkids, and extended family. Later he and Pat enjoyed fishing each summer with friends and a winter vacations to Las Vegas with family and friends. Whenever the music started, Jerry was on his feet dancing. No one was a stranger to Jerry and he enjoyed spending time with his many friends. He was a member of the Greenbrier Methodist Church. Jerry is survived by his wife Pat Augustus of Bagley; three daughters: Tammy Augustus of Des Moines, IA, Becky Jacobson of Bagley, IA, and Geraldine Augustus of Jefferson, IA; five grandchildren: Justin Augustus of Des Moines, IA, Randy Augustus of Jefferson, IA, Joey Molle of Bagley, IA, Ashley Renwanz of Ft. Dodge, IA, and Leslie Ritter of Ft. Dodge, IA; four great grandchildren: Ava, Evan, EmaLee, and Elii; a sister Charlotte Prescott and her husband Frank of Coon Rapids, IA; a brother Terry Augustus and his wife Mary of Ames, IA; two sisters-in-law: Sharron Scheurs of Sarasota, FL, and Linda Albertson and her husband Don of Pleasant Hill, IA; a brother-in-law Richard Wernick and his wife Cristi of Atlanta, GA; and many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Leta Augustus, two brothers Bob Augustus and Keith “Dugan” Augustus, and a sister Patricia Smouse.
