Mark Manning will officiate at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, N.D. Burial will be in the Ramona Protestant Cemetery at Ramona with military honors by the Ramona American Legion Post #216. Mark Manning will officiate at the Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, N.D. Burial will be in the Ramona Protestant Cemetery at Ramona with military honors by the Ramona American Legion Post #216. Keehn was born on Dec. 7, 1919, at Ramona to Floyd and Helena (Schlisner) Keehn. He graduated from Ramona High School in 1938 and then worked on the family farm until 1941, when he entered the U.S. Army. He served during World War II and was a member of the 124th Field Artillery Unit. He was honorably discharged in 1944 and continued his education at South Dakota State University. He married Irene Damsgaard in April 1944 at Sioux Falls. He graduated from SDSU in 1948 with a degree in agronomy and began his career with the South Dakota Experimental Station in Highmore. In 1950, he returned to work on the family farm after his father's death. He then re-entered the agronomy field and accepted employment in Africa. He spent a year as an agronomist in Somalia. After returning to the States, he was in Phillip with the Farmers Home Administration, serving three counties. From 1966-75, he was in charge of industrial development in New Town, N.D., for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. He retired in 1975, and they moved to Aberdeen. His wife died on Dec. 31, 2004. He moved to Breckenridge in March 2005 to be near his son. He was a member of the Breckenridge Lutheran Church and a 64-year member of the Ramona American Legion. Survivors include a son, David (Phyllis) of Wahpeton; a grandson; three stepgrandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; two infant brothers, and a sister, Lurean Keehn. The Vertin-Munson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Madison Daily Leader 09/24/2007
