He was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Los Angeles to Lawrence and Henrietta "Etta" (Moser) Emanuel. He moved with his family to Fremont in 1947. Read More	Gerald Emanuel (February 15, 1940 - September 12, 2008) Jerry M. Emanuel, 68, of Fremont died Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Omaha. He was born Feb. 15, 1940, in Los Angeles to Lawrence and Henrietta "Etta" (Moser) Emanuel. He moved with his family to Fremont in 1947. He lived most of his life in Fremont except for a few years when he lived in Abie and owned a bar. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Patrick's High School in Fremont and attended St. Benedict College at Atchison, Kan., for two years. He entered the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and served in Korea. He worked with his father in the Lawrence Emanuel & Son Construction Co. and later was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont, Knights of Columbus Council 1497 of Fremont, American Legion Post 20 of Fremont and the Fremont Veterans Club. He was a member of Boy Scouts of America and was a Scout leader of Troop 106 for many years. He coached St. Pat's Booster Club Youth Baseball. Survivors include: three brothers, Bill (and wife, Betsy) Emanuel of Santa Monica, Calif., Tim (and wife, Vicki) Emanuel of Morse Bluff and Michael (and wife, Michele) Emanuel of Fremont; and two sisters, Janet (and husband, Richard) Boyer and Patti (and husband, Paul) Vaughan, all of Fremont. The funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont. A vigil service with a rosary led by the Knights of Columbus will be 7 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont with military graveside services conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 20. Memorials have been established to Fremont Veterans Club and St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
