Description	:	MILLFIELD - Gerald "Goody" Goodman, 82, of Alderman Road, Millfield, died at his home late Sunday night, Nov. 5, 2000. He was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Athens County, son of the late Robert and Iona Tippie Goodman. He and his wife, Ruth, owned and operated The Big Elm Tavern and Restaurant for 50 years. A graduate of Chauncey-Dover High School, he was a World War II veteran who served in the European Theatre. He was born Feb. 22, 1918, in Athens County, son of the late Robert and Iona Tippie Goodman. He and his wife, Ruth, owned and operated The Big Elm Tavern and Restaurant for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Ruth "Rudy" Stewart Goodman; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Timothy Williams of Rockbridge; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Linda Goodman Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; grandsons and their wives, Michael and Shelly Williams of Tampa, Fla., Patrick and Amy Williams of Anchorage, Alaska, and Gerald "Trace" Goodman III of Orlando; a great-granddaughter, Lindsey Nicole Williams; and a special friend, Hubert Burchfield of Athens. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Williams. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Jagers and Sons Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. David Felty officiating. Burial will be in West Union Street Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by the Albany VFW post. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
