Description	:	Gerald Ross Thompson the son of Milford and Esther (Craft) Thompson was born May 5, 1939 at Hastings, Nebraska. He departed this life on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska at the age of 74 years. Gary grew up in the Hastings area and attended Hastings schools. Gary was united in marriage to Judy Hogeland at Minden, NE, to this union their children: Alice, Dean, Terry, Jody, Janice, Susan and Gary Lee were born. He departed this life on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska at the age of 74 years. Gary grew up in the Hastings area and attended Hastings schools. Gary was united in marriage to Judy Hogeland at Minden, NE, to this union their children: Alice, Dean, Terry, Jody, Janice, Susan and Gary Lee were born. This marriage ended in divorce and he later married Bonnie Campbell and Lela Kennedy. In 1983 Gary moved back to Nebraska from Colorado and in 1993 came to Edgar, NE to make his home. Gary had made trucking his life's career. He trucked for over 47 years, including many years for B&K Trucking in Sutton, NE. While in Edgar Gary had been very involved with the Edgar community, he served on the Edgar City Council, the Edgar Lions and ran the Edgar AA chapter. Gary had been a very active member of the Edgar Church of the Plains, serving as a church Elder. He, never however allowed any of these to diminish his first love that for his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Susan Kay, son Terry Lee and brother Rodney Guy. Survivors include his children: Dean Thompson of Hastings, NE; Alice Jacobitz of Minden, NE; Jody Stewart of McCook, NE; Janice Kotschwar of Culbertson, NE; and Gary Lee Thompson of Rapid City, SD; brother Jim Thompson of Alda, NE; Judy Bell of Portland, OR; and Sandy Sadd of Harvard, NE; his special friend Joan Uldrich of Edgar, NE; 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of cousins. Funeral services will be held this Wednesday 10:30 AM, January 29, 2014 at the Church of the Plains in Edgar, Nebraska. Pastor Don Canady will be officiating. Burial will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull, Nebraska at 1:30 PM Wednesday. Condolences may be sent to the family at wmsfh.com.
