Born on July 11, 1931, in Nodaway County, to Rossell and Irene Sharp Smock, he was owner and operator of Jerry's Leather Shop, in Maryville and South Gate. He served in the U.S. Air Force, during the Vietnam War. Smock was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Frase Smock, St. Joseph; two sons, Jerry D.
