He passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 1992, at the Warren Memorial Hospital in Friend, at the age of 76. Gerald attended St. Stephen's Catholic School through the eighth grade and graduated from the Exeter Public High School with the class of 1934. He was united in the Holy Sacrament of Matrimony with Margaret Mary O'Connor on April 15, 1950, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Omaha. He was a devoted life-long member of the St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Exeter. Four children blessed this marriage, Timothy, Stephen, David and Gerilynn. Gerald loved farming and raising livestock. His favorite past-time activities were watching football and baseball. He also enjoyed playing bingo and cards. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brother, Leo Charles, Cyril Isadore and Jerome Frederick and by a sister, Leona Burns. He is survived by his wife, Margaret M. of Exeter; sons, Timothy Becker and wife, Teddy of Hanover, Ks., Stephen Becker and wife Lori of Exeter, David Becker and wife, Denese of York; daughter, Gerilynn Kerby and husband Ken of Bellevue; brother, Claude Becker of Spokane, Wa.; sisters, Mrs. Delores Foley of Lincoln and Mrs. Gilbert (Rita) Walker of Seattle, Wa.; brother-in-law, John Burns of York and six grandsons and four granddaughters. Funeral services were conducted from the St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Exeter at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 1992, with Father John Kelly officiating. Mrs. Agnes Anderson accompanied Brie Mahoney who sang "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer." Casket bearers were Tom Becker, Trent Becker, Ty Becker, Kevin Burns, Bob Lampert and Ken Lampert. Interment was in the Exeter Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal October 22nd, 1992 page 9.
