Born December 1, 1930 in Birmingham, Iowa the son of George Elmer and Elsie (Poole) Turner. On December 20, 1956 he married Josephine B. Manning in Keosauqua, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2008. Born December 1, 1930 in Birmingham, Iowa the son of George Elmer and Elsie (Poole) Turner. On December 20, 1956 he married Josephine B. Manning in Keosauqua, Iowa. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2008. Survivors include one son; Ronnie (Ruth Ann) Turner of Farmington, Iowa, one grandson; Preston (Danielle) Turner, two great granddaughters; Jade Kennedy and Genevieve Turner, one great grandson; Christian Turner, one great-great grandson due in May 2016, two sisters; Carroll Lannom of Gladesville, Tennessee and Virginia Robison of Keosauqua, Iowa and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Josephine, one son; Kenneth Turner, two sisters; Ethel Coleman and Marie Grimson, three brothers; Elmer, John and Merrill Turner, one niece and one great nephew. Gerald served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a farmer and a truck driver. Spending time with his family and grandchildren were most important to him. Gerald enjoyed working with his hands, improving his farm and home, riding motorcycles, the outdoors and playing cards. He was a member of the Farmington American Legion Richardson Anthony Post #231. From the beginning of his life he was loving, wise, giving, loyal and dedicated to all that knew him. There was no other person on earth like him. He was very special and wonderful to many people. He is now where he belongs, at home in Heaven, in the loving arms of Jesus. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson, Iowa. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening at the funeral home in Donnellson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Schmitz Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Andy Bunnell officiating. Burial will be at the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington, Iowa with full military rites presented by the Farmington American Legion Richardson Anthony Post #231.
