Description	:	Gerald W. "Jerry" Rinne, age 90, of Friend, Nebraska and Cordova, Nebraska, was born January 23, 1926, in Steinauer, Nebraska, the son of Arthur and Alma (Blume) Rinne. He went to the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, October 24, 2016, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Gerald was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, in Elk Creek, Nebraska. "Jerry" Rinne, age 90, of Friend, Nebraska and Cordova, Nebraska, was born January 23, 1926, in Steinauer, Nebraska, the son of Arthur and Alma (Blume) Rinne. He went to the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, October 24, 2016, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Gerald was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, in Elk Creek, Nebraska. He was a 1943 graduate of Lewiston High School. He was a Merchant Marine in WWII. Gerald married the love of his life, Mildred M. Bartels, August 27, 1947. Growing up on a farm, he loved farming and worked several jobs before he became a long-time employee of Marathon Oil Company until retirement in 1986 in Salisbury, Missouri. He moved to Keytesville, Missouri, where he raised large gardens, catfish and enjoyed spending time with grandchildren. Over the years he was a member of many churches and currently was active in St. John's Lutheran Church in Cordova, where they moved in 1997. He loved watching his grandchildren's many school activities, was a Husker fan, loved playing cards and teaching family members his beloved game of Pinochle. He moved into Friend in 2007 and found many new friends. Survived by: his children and spouses: Shirley (Terry) Gautreaux, Rev. Rex (Linda) Rinne, Tim Rinne and Kay Walter; seven grandchildren, Nathan (Sheila) Rinne, Joel (Mandy) Rinne, Josh (Miranda) Rinne, Dr. Keith Gautreaux (Dr. Shaleah Jones), Jeffrey (Kat) Gautreaux, Anna Walter, and Elliott (Katie) Gautreaux; 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dianna Shomaker; and 14 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by: his loving wife, Mildred; parents; brothers, Delbert, Lloyd and Keith; sister, Marilyn Paul; sisters-in-law, Arlene Rinne, Leola Bartels; brothers-in-law, Rev. LeRoy Paul, Eugene Bartels. Funeral service on Friday, October 28, 2016, at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Cordova, Nebraska. Interment in the Zastrow Cemetery in Cordova.
