Geraldine Wickre, the daughter of J.E. and Agnes (Frisby) Wickre was born in Sioux Falls on April 10, 1920. She grew up on a farm outside of Crooks, SD until high school. Jerri graduated from Washington Senior High School, Sioux Falls, SD. She moved to Washington D.C. where she worked at the War Department during World War II. Jerri returned to Sioux Falls and was united in marriage to Henry E. Hansen on June 20, 1943. Following their marriage they moved to Chicago, IL for three years. They returned to Sioux Falls and she began working as a secretary at Augustana Lutheran Church for 10 years, she continued to work as a secretary at Lutheran Social Services for 10 years. For the next three years she worked as a Realtor before working part-time as a secretary at Family Practice Physicians for 12 years. Jerri was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA, the church quilting group, and a bible study. She enjoyed spending time volunteering, she volunteered at Meals on Wheels, delivering books for the Sioux Falls Library Home Bound Program, and the Ronald McDonald House. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, reading, flower gardening, music and painting. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Judy Moreland, her parents, four brothers, Albert Wickre, Paul Wickre, Joe Wickre and Herb Nielsen, and a sister, Inez Stevens, preceded her in death. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Visitation for the public begins at 3:00 pm Sunday at Miller Funeral Home with the family present on Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 pm to greet family and friends. Visitation will continue for the public all day on Monday at the funeral home.
