Geraldine Ann Jordan was born on the family farm near Pocahontas, Iowa, on December 25, 1928, the daughter of John and Agnes (Stoulil) Payer. She graduated from country school near Pocahontas and graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines in 1949. Gerry married Bernard Vincent Jordan in Pocahontas on August 21, 1950. Gerry worked as a Registered Nurse at nursing homes in Boone and Story City. She also helped her husband farm in northeast Boone County where they were members of Saint’s Peter and Paul Catholic Church. In 1995, her husband retired, and the couple moved to Boone. Gerry enjoyed reading, crocheting, feeding and watching birds, and in earlier years, she enjoyed gardening and canning her produce. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vincent, brothers Jack, Ray, and Jerome Payer, a sister Bernice Noyes, and two grandsons Nicholas and Adam Wiederholt. Gerry is survived by a son John (Connie) Jordan of Ames; four daughters, Sharon (Patrick) Weigel of Ames, Chris (Ray) Strother of Overland Park, Kansas, Karen Wiederholt of West Des Moines, and Mary (Jeff) Miller of Clarksville; three brothers Bob (Patty) Payer of Storm Lake, Ron Payer of Pocahontas, and Duane (Shirley) Payer of Centerville; a sister Doris Pickering of Chico, California; a sister-in-law Catherine (Arvid) Huffman of Boone; six grandchildren Michelle (Dave) Morlan, Loni (Boyd) DeZonia, Kiana (Ben) Harriman, Dan (Ashley) Reinsch, Ryan Reinsch, and Joseph Weigel; eight great grandchildren Austin Strother, Jordan Moeller, Camden and Reagan Harriman, Weston and Theodore Reinsch, and Aerilynn and Colton DeZonia.
