Description	:	Geraldine A. "Jud" (Guss) Luke. 83, Des Lacs, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, in a Minot medical center. Jud was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Lansford, the daughter of Charles F. and Emma (Ard) Guss, She graduated from Van Hook High School and attended Minot State Teachers College. She earned her Standard Teaching Certificate and taught Country school near Parshall and then in Lonetree and Des Lacs. She married Galen Alfred Luke July 5, 1941 in Sidney, Mont. "Jud" (Guss) Luke. 83, Des Lacs, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001, in a Minot medical center. Jud was born Oct. 14, 1918, in Lansford, the daughter of Charles F. and Emma (Ard) Guss, She graduated from Van Hook High School and attended Minot State Teachers College. She earned her Standard Teaching Certificate and taught Country school near Parshall and then in Lonetree and Des Lacs. She married Galen Alfred Luke July 5, 1941 in Sidney, Mont. Following their marriage the couple returned to the Lonetree area where they operated the Lonetree Grocery Store and farmed. While Calen was in the Army Air Corps, she worked at the Boeing Co. in Seattle, along with her sister, Frances. They built B-17 and B-29 bombers. Jud left Boeing and worked for a short time in an all-female gas station. Following Galen's discharge, the couple returned to North Dakota and started farming in Foxholm Township while living in Lonetree. In 1969, they moved to Des Lacs, but continued to maintain their farming interests until 1979. In 1966, Jud returned to teaching in Burlington and Des Lacs. She retired in 1976. Galen died July 4, 1991 in Minot. Jud resided in Des Lacs until her death. She was a member of Des Lacs United Methodist Church. She was always active in the local community and clubs. Survivors: son, Michael G. Luke and his wife, Joy Watson Luke, Garland, Texas; daughter, Sandra Luke Lee and her husband Dr. Richard J., Murrysville, Pa., grandchildren, Adam Luke, Austin, Texas, Emily Luke, College Station, Texas, Erin Luke, Garland, Texas, Kristin Lee Bunker and her husband Casey, Raleigh, N.C., Carmen Lee Badger and her husband Steve, Murrysville, Pa.: sister, Frances Lucas and her husband Marty, Tacoma, Wash.; nephew, Myrton Lucas Jr., Tacorna, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband, Galen; her parents; brother, Charles; nephew, Charles Frank Guss. Funeral: Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m. in Faith United Methodist Church. Minot. Burial: Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold. Family prayer service: Today at 4:30 p.m. in Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
