Gaus. ------------- KEYSER WVA- Geraldine Johnson, 91, of Keyser, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD.. Born on February 22, 1924, in Parson, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Julia (Propst) Haines. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Van L. Johnson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Our mother was truly a member of the Greatest Generation. Through the trials of living through the Great Depression and the poverty that ensued, she persevered. With the help of our father, they raised a family that has kept it together through thick and thin, all held together with love and a binding commitment to each other. We will always remember her unwavering love. She has completed the good fight and left us with the peace of a home in heaven that she longed for. Thank you mom. Surviving are her two sons, Edward Gaus and wife Carolyn of Cumberland, and Steve Johnson and wife Bev of Chesapeake, Va.; one daughter, Bonnie Nozzarella and husband Mario of Keyser, WVa.; grandchildren, Van Gaus and wife Cindy, Mark Gaus and wife Leslie, Shelly Carr, Christa Brakeall and husband Hunter, Terri Stevenson and husband Scott, Jimmy Smith and wife Karen, and Jeremiah Johnson and wife Kelly; step-grandsons, Marty Nozzarella and wife Megan, and Matt Nozzarella and wife Terri; great-grandchildren, Lindsay Bewkes, Alexis Gaus, Dalton Gaus, Camryn Brakeall, J.T. Stevenson, Allan Stevenson, Eowynn Smith, Avery Smith, Emma Gaus, Lydia Gaus, Jonah Gaus, Corbin Lass, Joey Johnson, Laura Johnson; step- great-grandchildren, Averi, Sophie, Paxton, Rachel, and Nicole Nozerella; and very special nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, MD., on Sunday, February 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted at funeral home on Monday, February 29 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gene Cecil officiating. Interment will be in the Maryland State Veteran’s Cemetery, Rocky Gap, Flintstone, Md.. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Doctor Gupta and his staff for their loving care. The family requests that memorial contributions be given in Geraldine’s memory to the Church Triumphant, 62 Triumphant Lane, Short Gap, West Virginia.
