Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 10, 1993 at Ackley Christian Reformed Church. Rev. Andrew Van Schouwen officiated. Marvin J. Richtsmeier was soloist and organist was Mae Brower. Honorary casket bearers were Bennett Franken and Meint Van Hove. Casket bearers were Daryl Anderson, Gaylen Eilderts, Clarence Karsjens, Daniel Karsjens, Doug Karsjens and Wendell Lupkes. Interment was in Christian Reformed Cemetery, Ackley. Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Geraldine Karsjens was born October 27, 1933 in Aplington, the daughter of George G. Abbas and Gertrude DeVries. She graduated from the Aplington Schools in 1951. On December 7, 1954, Geraldine married Harold "Bud" Karsjens at the Aplington Reformed Church. She was a homemaker and attended Ackley Christian Reformed Church and various Bible studies. Surviving are her husband; Harold of Ackley, three sons; Dan H. of Ackley, Douglas P. of Waterloo and Dean W. of Charles City, two daughters; Denise G. Eilderts of Aplington and Dawn R. Karsjens of Ackley, four grandchildren and two sisters; Marie Anderson of Aplington and Thelma Jean Peterson of Charles City. She was preceded in death by her parents, son; David A. and a sister, Josephine Lupkes. (Grundy Obituaries maintained by Tammy D. Mount)
