She was born June 21, 1919, in rural Scribner, to Harold and Elsie (Walker) Shriver. She was a graduate of North Bend High School and attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont. She lived in North Bend until moving to Fremont in 1941. She married Jasper D. "J. Dale" Starmer on Dec. 27, 1941, in Elmwood. Starmer June 21, 1919 - Oct. 7, 2011 Geraldine L. Starmer, 92, of Fremont died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, at Fremont Area Medical Center. She was born June 21, 1919, in rural Scribner, to Harold and Elsie (Walker) Shriver. She was a graduate of North Bend High School and attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont. She lived in North Bend until moving to Fremont in 1941. She married Jasper D. "J. Dale" Starmer on Dec. 27, 1941, in Elmwood. She taught in rural Dodge County schools for several years before and after her marriage. She worked at J. C. Penney Co. for ten years and was a receptionist for Dr. R. C. Macaluso for 12 1/2 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fremont, Martha Circle, Maple Grove Women's Club, Fremont Area Medical Center Auxiliary, VFW Post 854 Auxiliary and received their Gold Circle Award in 2011. Survivors include: son, Gene (and wife, Barb) Starmer of Omaha; daughter, Pat (and husband, Tom) Runge of Bennet; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died July 9, 1996, a brother and sister. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Fremont with the Rev. Mike Anderson officiating. Visitation will 1-8 p.m. Monday with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will continue 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials may be made to the church or American Diabetes Association. Moser Memorial Chapel of Fremont is in charge of arrangements.
