Geraldine Marlis Pies was born Dec. 28, 1925, to Philip and Leona (Donat) Pies on the family farm northeast of Ortley. She attended country school near her home and Waubay High School. Read More	Geraldine “Geri” Bloom Webster – Geraldine “Geri” Bloom, 72, of Webster, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 1998, at her home. Geraldine Marlis Pies was born Dec. 28, 1925, to Philip and Leona (Donat) Pies on the family farm northeast of Ortley. She attended country school near her home and Waubay High School. She worked in a café before her marriage. On Nov. 27, 1943, she married Fred “Pete” Bloom at Webster. After their marriage, they made their home and farmed on the Fred Schmit farm southeast of Webster. In 1946, they moved to the Bloom family farm in Wheatland Township, Day County, southeast of Webster, and farmed until retirement. In 1988, they moved to Webster. She worked at Bethesda Home in Webster for 14 years. Her husband died in 1991. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Webster and was active in the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and Circle. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, card playing and visiting. Survivors include one son, Dr. Alan (Rita) Bloom of Webster; three brothers, Rudolph Pies of Waubay, Merle Pies of Sisseton and Lloyd Pies of Grenville; four sisters, Arvis Flones of Waubay, Joyce Jensen of Summit, Arlene Schulz of Waubay and Karen Henderson of Aberdeen; three grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
