Volk was born November 16, 1929 in Harvey, ND a daughter of Steve and Agnes (Conrad) Volk. She was raised on the family farm north of Harvey, ND. "Gerry" Dahly, 82, Minot, died Saturday, March 31, 2012 in a Minot nursing home. Geraldine M. Volk was born November 16, 1929 in Harvey, ND a daughter of Steve and Agnes (Conrad) Volk. She was raised on the family farm north of Harvey, ND. She attended schools in Harvey, attending high school one year at Harvey High, one year at St. Cecilia Catholic School and then graduating in 1948 from St. James Academy in New Rockford, ND. She then moved to Minot and attended Minot Business College. Upon completion, she started working at JC Penny's and worked there for five years. On October 9, 1950 she married Wilfred "Will" Dahly at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Harvey, ND. They made their home in Minot. When her children were in high school, she started selling Avon. She did this for a year. She then went to work at Perkett School in their hot lunch program. She retired in 1997 after 24 years of service. Gerry was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot and the Confraternity of Christian Mothers. Geraldine loved to camp, garden, and bake. She was known for her pies. She entered Trinity Nursing Home in January of 2008. Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Arlene Volk; brothers-in-law, Donovan (Marian) Dahly and Orville Dahly. Funeral: Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Visitation and vigil service: Visitation will be Wednesday, April 4, 2012, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
