Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Clear Lake, SD. Burial will be in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, George, Iowa. Harms, age 93, of Clear Lake, SD passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Estelline Nursing Home. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Clear Lake, SD. Burial will be in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, George, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9th at the First Baptist Church in Clear Lake. Geraldine Mavis (Blau) Harms was born on May 17, 1927 to Harry and Margaret (Duin) Blau at the family farm in Lyon County, near George, IA and was the fourth child born of a family of 11 children. She attended District #3 Country School near Little Rock and then helped on the family farm. She was united in marriage to Lorne Delbert Harms on June 20, 1947 at Geraldine’s parents’ farm near Doon, IA. Following their marriage, they farmed near Doon until 1955 when they moved to a farm near Sibley, IA. They moved to Clear Lake, SD in 1959, where they continued to farm. Geraldine also worked at the Red Owl Grocery Store, cleaned homes and did wallpapering. Lorne passed away on August 11, 2013. Geraldine continued to live at their home near Clear Lake until October of 2020 when she moved to Watertown. Geraldine entered the Estelline Nursing and Care Center on January 7, 2021 where she passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the age of 93. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clear Lake. In earlier years, she was a member of the Bemis Holland Presbyterian church where she taught Bible School. Geraldine served as the secretary of the Clear Lake Senior Citizens program. She enjoyed gardening and flowers, as well as, enjoyed all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is lovingly remembered by her six children: Erma (Donald) Larsen, Marlys Elms, Lorraine (Donald) Puckett, Gerald Harms, Jolene (special friend, Donald VanDykhorst) Harms and Loretta (Mike) Briggs; 19 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; 20 step great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sister, Nina Zylstra; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Blau, Nancy Blau, Barbara Blau and Verna Schniederman; brothers-in-law: Kenneth (Myrna) Harms and Gary Boor; and many nieces and nephews. Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband Lorne; parents; grandson, Bryan Harms, step grandson, Victor Briggs and nine brothers and sisters.
