Interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Geraldine passed away on Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Golden Living Center in Norfolk, NE. Geraldine (Thompson) Ahlers was born on August 28, 1937 at West Point, NE to Homer D. and Celia Elizabeth (Prawitz) Thompson. Gerri graduated from Wisner High School in 1954. She taught in rural schools and worked at Citizen’s Bank prior to her marriage. On October 14, 1955, she was united in marriage to Robert Otto Ahlers at the Congregational Church in Wisner, NE. The couple lived in California while Bob was serving in the United States Navy. They returned to a farm west of Wisner. Gerri had worked as a CNA and in activities for several nursing homes. Gerri loved to do needlepoint, puzzles, crossword puzzles and read. Survivors include her children- Becky and Glen Kleffman of Portsmouth, IA Bob Ahlers, Jr. of Winside, NE Audrey and Dean Partridge of St. Joseph, MO Dan Ahlers of Mt. Carmel, PA Vicki and Tim Finkral of Battle Creek, NE Brenda Summers of Norfolk, NE Bonita Ahlers of Norfolk, NE Sally and Kevin Baldridge of York, NE Randy Ahlers of Norfolk, NE Janet Ahlers and Al Brandl of Madison, NE Glen Ahlers of Norfolk, NE Denise and Billy Czapla of Columbus, NE Kristi and Craig Morrison of Norfolk, NE 33 Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren Gerri was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-Cindy, son-Darin, grandchildren-Lacey, Damian, Dustin, and Deon, and a sister-Evelyn Bergstrom.
