Gerard was born in Oakland, the son of the late Louis and Angelina (Blais) Fortin in 1919. Gerard was educated in local schools and attended Winslow High School. He then went on to serve his country in the Army during World War II. He returned to Maine and worked for Scott Paper Co. for more than 40 years. Read More	WATERVILLE - Gerard Francis "Pete" Fortin, 92, formerly of Morrill Avenue, Waterville, passed on July 19, 2011, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. Gerard was born in Oakland, the son of the late Louis and Angelina (Blais) Fortin in 1919. Gerard was educated in local schools and attended Winslow High School. He is survived by his wife, Theresa (Vachon) Fortin, of Waterville; three daughters and one son, Cherene Boyer and husband, Dennis, of Florida; Gisele Richards and husband, Greg, of Vermont; Mary Dyer and husband, Philip, of Georgia; and Guy Fortin of Bingham; four stepchildren, Lionel "Reggie" Caron and wife, Connie, of Florida; Sister Colette Caron of Waterville, James Caron of Waterville and Celeste Dickey and husband, Randy, of Clinton; half-brother Carl Weymouth and wife, Janet, of Benton; stepsister Esther Childs of Belgrade; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gerard was predeceased by his first wife, Fernande (Lessard) Fortin; two brothers, Albert Fortin and wife, Lillian, and Fernand Fortin and wife, Irene; a granddaughter, Tania Richards Sicard; a stepfather, Ray Weymouth Sr.; and a half-brother, Ray Weymouth. Committal will be held at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road at a later date. (Morning SEntinel 7/22/2011)
