Description	:	Fremont Tribune (NE) - Thursday, March 17, 2005 The funeral for Gerda Groene, 89, of Fremont will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont. She passed at Nye Pointe Health & Rehabilitation Center in Fremont. She was born June 23, 1915, in Hooper to William and Lucy (Rodgers) Hite. She attended Hooper Public Schools, graduating in 1932. She married Henry Groene of Meta, Mo., on Dec. 5, 1934, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She passed at Nye Pointe Health & Rehabilitation Center in Fremont. She was born June 23, 1915, in Hooper to William and Lucy (Rodgers) Hite. She attended Hooper Public Schools, graduating in 1932. She married Henry Groene of Meta, Mo., on Dec. 5, 1934, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After farming for three years in Missouri, they moved to a farm southeast of Hooper, where they resided for 35 years. They retired to Fremont in 1975. Her husband preceded her in death in August 1998. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fremont and the Tabitha Society, and had been active in the church's choir. She was a member of the Elkhorn View Extension Club for 52 years and was a former member of the Hooper Federated Women's Club. Survivors include: a daughter, Shirley (Mrs. Harley) Nihsen of Minden, Iowa; four grandchildren, Ronald (and wife, Denise) Nihsen of Avoca, Iowa, Marsha (Mrs. Arlan) Darrington of Neola, Iowa, Carol Nihsen (and fiancé, James Henkleman) of Odebolt, Iowa, and Amy (Mrs. Rick) Miller of Gilbert, Ariz.; four great-grandchildren, Mandy and Nicole Darrington and Veronica and Adam Nihsen; and three stepgreat-grandchildren, Shawn, Scott and Cory Darrington. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Forrest and Hilton Hite. The Revs. Timothy Gierke and Timothy Anderson will officiate Saturday's service. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Friday at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont with the family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Burial will be in Hooper Cemetery.
