Arrangements were made by Memorial Home, Sioux Center. The former Gerdena Vande Berg was born August 4, 1903, in rural Sioux Center to Ralph J. and Ella (Kosters) Vande Berg. She attended rural schools in the Sioux Center area. She married Anthony Van Ravenswaay February 21, 1927, in Sioux Center. After their marriage, the couple farmed west of Sioux Center until their retirement in 1960. He died in 1976. She moved into the Sioux Center Hospital Wing in 1985. She was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church. Survivors include five daughters, Alice and Junior Dooyema, Gertrude and William Horstman and Rena and John J. Van Voorst, all of Sioux Center, Carol and Gerrit Koedam of Council Bluffs, and Mary and Ed Zuschlag of Arvada, Colorado; three sons, Richard and his wife Shirley of Montevideo, Minnesota, Ralph of Omaha, Nebraska, and Anthony of Cherokee; two daughters-in-law, Alma and Sandy Van Ravenswaay, both of Sioux Center; one brother, Ralph Vande Berg of Orange City; one sister, Minnie Punt of Sioux Center; 37 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
