Description	:	Gerhard Carl Dose (as printed in the Polk Progress) Gerhard Carl Dose was born on March 24, 1909 near Hampton, the son of Adolph and Emma Heiden Dose. He departed this life on October 1, 1980 at the age of 71 years, 6 mo., and 7 days. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church by Pastor Theo Moellering on the 28th day of March, 1909. Having been instructed in the doctrines of the Christian religion he was confirmed and confessed his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ at the Zion Lutheran Church on March 25, 1923 by the Rev. Gerhard was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. On October 24, 1937, he was united in marriage to Ellen Mae Doremus. To this union there were born three children. They resided on the Dose family farm until 1965 when they moved to Polk. He was engaged in farming his entire life. Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant son. Gerhard is survived by his wife Mae; a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Negron and her husband Felix of Simi Valley, Calif.: a son, Gaylord and his wife, Linda of Hampton; six grandchildren, Alan, Sonia, Felix, Greg, Brian and Bradley; two sisters, Mrs. Walter (Emma) Roehrs and Mrs. Louis (Clara) Parker, both of York and many other relatives and friends. Services were held Saturday, October 4, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Keith Knippenberg officiating. Mrs. Keith Knippenberg organist accompanied the ladies choir as they sang “Ole Rugged Cross”, and “Abide With Me”. Casketbearers were Milan Blase, Clarence Kohtx, Ervin Paben, Arthur Dose, Melvin Heiden, Rollen Roehrs. Interment was in the Immanuel Cemetery.
