Description	:	Gerhard Venteicher died at his home in Willey Wednesday morning of last week at 2:48, after being sick with pneumonia only a few days. Mr. Venteicher was born in Kaunitz Westfalen, Germany, May 9, 1860. He was the oldest of 10 children, all preceding him in death. At the age of 18 he came to America, locating in St. Lucas. Read More	Gerhard Venteicher died at his home in Willey Wednesday morning of last week at 2:48, after being sick with pneumonia only a few days. Mr. Venteicher was born in Kaunitz Westfalen, Germany, May 9, 1860. He was the oldest of 10 children, all preceding him in death. At the age of 18 he came to America, locating in St. Lucas. Ia., in 1868, where he labored for six years. In the spring of 1874 he came to Carroll county making the trip with a yoke of oxen and began at once breaking up his farm which he owned up to the time of his death. In 1875 he returned to St. Lucas, where he married Marj Kraemer, August 30, 1875. Immediately after his marriage he and his wife came to Carroll county in a covered wagon. Coming to Carrol county at such an early day, he and his good wife underwent many hard ships and privations but with much hard labor he accomplished what seemed almost impossible in those days. Mr. Venteicher accumulated enough of this world's goods to enable himself and wife to enjoy comfort in their old age and to assist all his children in starting out for themselves. He owned a number of farms in Carroll county. For 44 years he lived on the same farm when in 1918 he retired to a beauiful new home in Willey. Mr. and Mrs. Venteicher celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1925. Mr. Venteicher leaves to mourn him, his good wife and eleven children: Anton; Anna, Mrs. Jos. Bauer; Herman; Catherine, Mrs. M. Balk; Lena, Mary and Philomena, Mrs. Geo. Schreck, all of Carroll county; and Cecilia, Mrs. Wm. Schmitz, of Bonesteel, S. D.; John of Plerz, Minn.; Gertrude, Sister M. Fauzetta, of Spokane, Wash. Two children preceded him in death, Elizabeth, Mrs, P. X. Bauer, and Theresia, 2 rears old at her death. Besides these 10, he leaves 61 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services were, held at St. Mary's church Saturday, Rev. M. Shemel officiating, assisted by Rev. Huelshorst of Dedham and Rev. L. Anthofer of Roselle. The body was laid to rest in St. Mary's cemetery. Pallbearers were eight of his grandsons. Mr. Venteicher was known for his hospltality and generosity, always a cheerful giver for any good cause; always interested in public enterprizes; always a real Catholic at heart and in practice. Mr. Venteicher had numberless friends and will be greatly missed in his home and by those who knew him. Our sympathy goes out to his bereaved relatives.
