Funeral September 17 at 2:30 p.m. from last residence, 4353 W. Jackson Blvd. Burial at Wellsburg Ia. --Wellsburg Herald (Wellsburg, Iowa), 16 September 1925 ------------------------ Funeral Services For Mrs. Mach Were Held Saturday The body of Mrs. George F. Mach, formerly Helen Doyen, arrived in Wellsburg last Friday morning, and was met at the depot by a deputation of friends of the Doyen family who, under the direction of John Flessner, assisted in removing it to the family home. Mrs. Mach was born and raised here, and her sudden passing was a great shock to those who had seen her only a few weeks before in apparently the best of health. The sympathy of all goes out to the stricken family in the loss of the beloved wife, the tender and devoted mother, and the kind and loving sister. The funeral was very largely attended, and the stores of Wellsburg were closed during the funeral as a token of regard for the memory of the departed. The floral offerings were many and embowered the casket in their beauty. Obituary. Helen Gerhardine Doyen, wife of Dr. George Francis Mach, was born March 27, 1883, at Wellsburg, Iowa, where she spent her childhood days. After she had obtained the proper education, she was active as a teacher and served in this capacity in the Wellsburg school. Later she went to Chicago, where she was active in various prominent positions as an accountant and private secretary until she entered holy wedlock and became married to Dr. George Francis Mach, September 30, 1914. During the course of their wedded life they have lived in Philadelphia for three and a half years and for the same period in New York city, and after that time for four years they had their permanent home in Chicago where, including the previous periods that she has spent there, she has lived all of twenty years. Last Thursday, September 10, she suddenly took sick. The nature of her illness called for an immediate operation. Until Tuesday there was still a chance for her to recover, though the deceased according to her own conviction had no hopes of ever becoming well. Hoping against hope, it was planned different in the all-wise counsel of the Almighty, Who summoned her soul to the great beyond on Wednesday morning, September 16, at 25 minutes after 4 o'clock. She reached the age of 42 years, 5 months, and 20 days. During the short period of personal acquaintance with her she has proved herself to be what she confessed. She enjoyed a continued church affiliation in her own locality, being a Bible student as well as a faithful solicitor for the truth of God, for the welfare of her family and her fellow-men, trying at the same time to meet her obligations as a Christian mother and a faithful companion to her dear and kind husband. She leaves to mourn her death beside her sorrow-stricken husband her little daughter Georgette Frances, her five sisters and three brothers--Mrs. Amanda Reed, West Bend; Mrs. Dena Peters, Worthington, Minn.; Mrs. Florence Meyer, Holland; Miss Bertha Doyen, Wellsburg; Mrs. Louise Hummel, Waterloo; Heiko Doyen, Wellsburg; George Doyen, Marshalltown; and John Doyen, Wellsburg. The sons and daughters and their wives and husbands were all present at the funeral, and from abroad besides others were Heye Miller of Little Rock, Iowa, Mrs. C.
